LEUVAUX

Le Savoir-Faire

A singular grain,
one pair of hands, one bag.

Leuvaux savoir-faire begins with reading the character of the leather.Material and form, colour and finish are brought together with care to complete a single bag.

N° 01 · Le Cuir

Singular leathers

Leuvaux considers the distinct grain and character of natural leathers, including crocodile, ostrich and lizard.

Even within the same leather, the movement of the grain and depth of colour are never alike.Choosing the material suited to each piece is the first step in its making.

N° 02 · La Patine

The depth of patina

Leuvaux patina does not conceal the grain of the leather; it gives the colour greater depth.

Its expression shifts with light and angle, deepening over time to follow the life of the person who carries it.

N° 03 · La Main

The hand of the artisan

Cutting and stitching the leather, refining the edges and completing the finish all depend on the sensitivity of the hand.

Line and proportion, the spacing of each stitch, the feel beneath the fingertips — small differences shape the impression of a piece.

N° 04 · Le Temps

The time a piece requires

The time needed to complete a piece varies with the character of the leather and the design.Leuvaux follows the process each one requires, rather than a prescribed pace.

From cutting to final inspection, every stage is taken in turn, without haste.

N° 05 · L'Avenir

Savoir-faire, carried forward

Leuvaux savoir-faire rests on the choices and standards refined with every piece completed.

To carry an understanding of leather and skills learned by hand into the next work — this is the time Leuvaux is creating.
